Purview Image™ is a cloud-based platform that allows users to view medical images on an FDA-approved viewer, create radiology reports online, and share these medical records electronically. Image works on any device with a web browser.

Horos is a free and open source medical image viewer that works only on Apple Mac computers. Users can also view images and create reports in Horos, but are limited to the local machine that Horos is installed on.

Purview Image™ is organized on the medical imaging Study level such as a particular CT scan of a patient, instead of being organized as a whole patient "case". Many imaging centers, radiologists, surgeons, and educators utilize Purview Image as the cloud-based storage, viewing, and reporting solution for medical image studies and other documents.

Expert View™ is typically used by larger medical institutions such as children's hospitals who want to expand their reach and treat patients in geographically disparate areas. Since there are typically more images, records, and administration involved in case review, Expert View™ is purpose built to perform asynchronous review of medical records as required when providing a remote second opinion.

Purview will work with you and your previous storage solution to move legacy data into the Image™ cloud. Typically, the legacy data is provided to Purview in DICOM-compliant format on an external hard drive.

Purview Image™ can integrate with your Radiology Information System (RIS) and/or Electronic Medical Records (EMR) to enable communication between the two platforms. Depending on the connection, we may utilize an Application Programming Interface (API) or Health Level Seven (HL7) connection.

Webviewer integration - weblinks of images that are stored in Image™ can be embedded into another platform
Report integration - radiology reports stored in Image™ can be made available in another platform
Modality Worklist (MWL) integration - demographic information of a patient can be automatically transmitted from the scheduling platform to the imaging scanner, reducing the amount of manual data entry required

Image™ is often used for research purposes because it makes the medical image collection, storage, and review process much more streamlined compared to using physical media.

Image™ is also used for educational use-cases including radiology viewer training, examination, and medical image presentation.

Additionally, you have the ability to create branded radiology reports with your company information.

Images can be uploaded directly to the cloud from an imaging modality over DICOM protocol (IP address, AE Title, Port). Depending on the local regulations, a secure connection such as a virtual private network (VPN) may be required to protect medical information during image upload.

Images stored on CDs, thumb drives, and/or other portable media can be uploaded to Purview Image™ through a web-based uploader.
